THE GOAL:
We've decided it's time to switch to an SCCA Street Prepared autocross class, and we've chosen F Street Prepared (FSP). Our car of choice is a 1995 Honda Civic Dx hatchback. We just picked this car up and have already started planning the modifications necessary to be competetive in FSP.
For the 2004 season our goal is to make the car atleast locally competetive for autocross competition, but also good for occasional road course duty and street use. We are thinking that 2005 is a realistic goal for taking the car to SCCA Divisional and National events.
CURRENT MODIFICATIONS (as of 9/20/04):
Listed below are some of the cars current modifications. Keep in mind, all of these mods are not necessarily ideal for the SCCA FSP class. For 2004 we are driving the car to events, so we didn't really want to go crazy with it.
Suspension:
Koni Yellow dampers
Ground Control Coilover Kit w/ GC Upper Mounts (spring rates are 400f/500r)
Wheels & Tires:
Falken Azenis tires (205/50-15)
Rota Circuit 10 wheels (15x6)
Engine/Drivetrain:
AEM cold air intake
Brakes:
Carbotech Bobcat front brake pads (from Carbotech Engineering)
AutoZone front rotors
ATE Super Blue brake fluid
INTERIOR:
Corbeau Forza race seats
Schroth Profi II harness belts
PLANNED MODIFICATIONS:
Listed below are some of the modifications we currently have in mind for the 2005 season. This list will definitely change however as we research what is required to build a fast FSP car. The car will be trailered to events in 2005 and will probably not be street driven at all.
Suspension:
Stiffer Eibach springs for GC coilover kit (still researching spring rates)
Comptech or Suspension Techniques Front and Rear Sway Bars
Front/Rear strut bars
Wheels & Tires:
13x8 Volk TE-37 wheels
Kumho V710 rubber
Engine/Drivetrain:
DC Sports 4-2-1 Header
MagnaFlow, SuperTrapp, or custom exhaust
Quaife LSD
Aftermarket clutch and lightweight flywheel
Brakes:
ATE Super Blue brake fluid
Goodridge stainless steel brake lines
Interior:
Sparco 383 Suede steering wheel w/quick release
Remove A/C, stereo, etc.
Fire Extinguisher
